This handsome medallion portrays the traditional symbol of the United States Marine Corps which includes the Globe, the Anchor, and the Eagle. This emblem is sometimes referred to as the EGA, although the U.S. Marine Corps officially discourages this term. This emblem traces its roots to the designs and ornaments of the early Continental Marines. This emblem, adopted in 1955, only differs from the 1868 emblem by a change in the style of the eagle.
