THIS IS A CLEARANCE ITEM--NO RETURNS. This St. Therese of Avila medal is yellow gold vermeil and features a detailed, satin-finished image of St. Teresa, a quill in her hand. Above her is a dove, symbolizing the Holy Spirit. The castle in the background is representative of the Kingdom of God. The high-polished border reads "Saint Teresa of Avila Pray For Us". The back is brush-finished. Measures approximately 3/4" in diameter and includes an 18" curb chain. Packaged in a maroon velvet gift box.
St. Teresa of Avila, also known as "St Theresa of Jesus" (March 1515 - Oct. 1582), was a Carmalite nun who founded a a reformed convent of St. John of Avila, as well as other convents. A Doctor of the Catholic Church, she is known for her Way of Perfection, addressed to her nuns, teaching the major virtues and the practice of prayer. Tradition holds that she is also a patron saint of headache sufferers. Her feast day is celebrated on October 15.
