Measuring approximately 9/16" in length, this sterling silver, "Butterfly Ballet"® charm pendant features a unique butterfly shape of three dancers - one dancer as the butterfly center and one in each wing. This ovarian cancer awareness charm can be worn on a bracelet or with a chain, and is also available in 14K gold; see our Gold "Butterfly Ballet"® Charms #8059.

This charm was originally created as a pendant by Mike Maixner in 1984 as a birthday gift for his wife, dancer Danalee Maixner. He later recreated the "Pas de Trois" (dance for three) Butterfly Ballet pendant in response to his wife's death from ovarian cancer - as a tribute to her life and her love of dance, and to create awareness and funding in the battle against ovarian cancer. Ovarian cancer is the fifth most common cancer among women. It strikes 1 in 69 women and causes more deaths than any other kind of female reproductive cancer.
