Measuring approximately 3/4" in diameter, this St. Thomas of Aquinas medal is yellow gold vermeil and is detailed with a satin-finished likeness of the saint, his staff in one hand and a book (presumably his Summa Theologica) in the other. The high-polished border reads "Saint Thomas Aquinas Pray For Us". The back is brush-finished. Includes an 18" curb chain and comes packaged in a maroon velvet gift box.
St. Thomas Aquinas (1225 - March 7, 1274), was an Italian Dominican priest of the Catholic Church. He was a philosopher and theologian, and was made a Doctor of the Catholic Church. He is known for his works Summa Theologica and Summa Contra Gentiles. Tradition holds that he is the patron saint of scholars. His feast day is commemorated on two dates, March 7 and January 28, the date of the translation of his relics to Toulouse, France.
