Tradition holds that St. Patrick, Bishop of Armagh and the Enlightener of Ireland, used a shamrock to explain the holy Trinity. He converted many, bringing Christianity to Ireland, and wrote of his love for God in his Confessio. Loved by many throughout the world, his feast day is celebrated on March 17.
