Framed St. Patrick Medals in 14K Yellow Gold

This detailed, St. Patrick medal is crafted from 14K yellow gold and features a scrolled, open-work "frame".  The saint is depicted in his bishop's vestments and mitre, holding his staff and standing against a matte-finished background that includes the sun and ocean.  In his right hand, he holds a small church, symbolizing the planting of Christianity in Ireland.  Measures approximately 11/16" in diameter.

Born in Scotland, St. Patrick was captured as a boy and brought to Ireland as a slave to herd sheep.  It was during this time that he turned to God in prayer.  He later escaped to England and received training as a cleric.  After his ordination to the bishopric, he returned to Ireland, converting many to Christianity.  Known as the Enlightener of Ireland, and for his love for God, His feast day is celebrated on March 17.
