This beautiful medal shows St. Anthony of Padua holding the Christ Child as the Saint saw in a vision. On the border of the medal the words "ST. ANTHONY PRAY FOR US" are inscribed. St. Anthony was originally a monk of the Augustinian Order, but he left to join the Franciscan Order in the year 1221. He was known as a gifted theologian and preacher. He was also a contemporary of St. Francis of Assisi. He died in the year 1231 and was declared a Saint only one year after his death. St. Anthony is know as the finder of lost articles.
