St. Michael Medal in Sterling Silver with Red and Blue Enamel #8291

This beautiful and inspirational polished St. Michael Medal is die cast in Sterling Silver. The medal is packed in Blue Velvet Gift Box. The medal comes with a 24" Rhodium plated chain, but Sterling Silver chains can be selected from the box above. In this sterling silver medal, Michael the Archangel is shown bearing a sword and a shield. On the shield is inscribed the Latin phrase "Quis et Deus" which means "Who is like God". The phrase is a literal translation of the meaning of the name "Michael" from the Hebrew. St. Michael is viewed in some traditions as the patron saint of policemen, members of the military, and those who are in battle.  The Archangel Michael is identified as the angel who defeats Satan in the New Testament book of Revelation. The phrase "Quis et Deus" may also be interpreted as the Archangel's contemptuous question directed at a defeated Satan. In the Orthodox Church, he is known as the Commander of the Heavenly hosts: St Michael is most often invoked for protection from invasion by enemies and from civil war. He is celebrated primarily on November 8, the Synaxis of Michael and all the Bodiless Powers of Heaven. "O ye foremost of the Heavenly hosts: Deliver us from oppression, since ye are the princes of dominions on high." (an Orthodox hymn to the archangels).
