She was canonized as a Roman Catholic Saint in 1622 by Pope Gregory XV and she was named a Doctor of the Church by Pope Paul VI in 1970. She is considered the patron saint of chess; people who suffer from bodily ills, headaches, and other sicknesses; people in religious orders, orphans, people in need of grace, people ridiculed for their piety, lace makers, and lace workers. She is also the patron of Poega, Croatia and one of the patron saints of Spain. Her feast day is celebrated on October 15.
