Oval St. Joseph Medals in 14K Yellow or White Gold #8184

Fashioned from 14K gold, this oval, engravable St. Joseph medallion shows the saint holding Christ and a lily.  The images have a satin-finish; the background is a matte-finished.  Available in three lengths: 15, 18.75 and 23mm (see table below for conversion to inches). The smaller, 15mm medal is icon-like, depicting Christ with His hand raised giving a blessing; each one features Him holding an orb, representing the cosmos.  The polished border reads "St Joseph Pray for Us".  15mm size is in either white or yellow; 18 and 22mm diameters are in yellow only.  Packaged in a Viridian Gold velvet gift box.  To view in sterling silver, see our #8187.  Add optional engraving to this order.

St. Joseph (also known as St. Joseph the Betrothed and St. Joseph of Nazareth) was a descendant of St. David the King.  He was advanced in years when he was called to be the Betrothed and protector of the Virgin.  In submitting to the fulfillment of the prophets' foresayings, and in his obedience to God, he is an example of putting the sacred above his own desires.  In some traditions he is known as patron saint of carpenters and workers.  His feast day is celebrated on March 19 in the Catholic Church and on Dec. 31 in the Orthodox Church.
